Horizontal Drilling Jig
Make repeatable horizontal cuts quick and accurate.

Note:
I recommend sizing up the plank to be 90mm wide and using larger fasteners to M5 or larger to increase clamping force.
Build description:
1. On the full plank mark out the large hole center point and the cut centerline where you will separate the plank in two pieces. Then also mark out the two top fastener holes. 2. Drill out the large hole using a hole saw on a drill press (it can be done by hand but make sure you drill perfectly straight as accuracy is important at this step). 3. Cut the piece in two using a miter saw or a circular saw. 4. Drill out the two top smaller fastener thru holes and then enlarge them so your fasteners can be inset in the wood. I didn't show this in the video but I had to do it later because I didn't have bolts long enough to fit through the whole piece, but the enlarging can be skipped if you have bolts long enough. 5. Transfer the bolt hole mark to the bottom piece using a long pencil insert or by using a ruler (make sure the holes are aligned perfectly). 6. Drill out the larger hole in the bottom piece for your threaded inserts. 7. Insert your threaded inserts. You can add some glue to make sure inserts don't get pulled out. 8. Place your flat head bolts in the top piece and attach the top clamping assembly to the bottom piece. 9. Place the hand drill in the jig and fasten id down using the clamping system. 10. Make sure the drill bit is level with the table top. 11. Attach a guide plate and drill out your holes. Make sure to use high rpm and low feed pressure. Also use brad-point drill bits to prevent any potential wandering of the drill bit.
